Hanna-Maaria Tuomela is a singer-songwriter-pianist who masterfully combines catchy, pop-forward melodies with raw, sincere lyrics, weaving a stunning tapestry with her bright golden voice. As first runner-up on the X Factor Finland, Tuomela showcased her versatile voice and unique style by performing her own creations. Inspired by classical piano and alt-pop icons like Björk, Susanne Sundfor, and Imogen Heap, Hanna-Maaria designs her music from concept to performance.
While staying musically grounded singing in classical choirs over the years, Tuomela also toured Finland with various high-profile pop artists, including Mariska and Cheek. Post X-Factor, she released her own album under the artist name Maaria in December 2023. The Finnish pop album has amassed more than 730k streams on Spotify and been regularly played on several Finnish radio stations.
Raised by two musicians, Tuomela began her music career with classical piano lessons at just four years old in Helsinki, Finland. The artist’s Master’s level music education includes classical, pop, jazz, and performing arts studies from institutions in Finland and Italy. Hanna-Maaria regularly puts these skills to work: writing, composing, arranging, producing, educating, and performing with other international artists around the world.
The Maaria album release left Tuomela satisfied but unfulfilled. After moving to Vienna to be with her long-term partner after two years of long-distance, Hanna-Maaria returns to the fresh soundscape that is so uniquely her with her newest single “One Love”. The romantic pop ballad is a manifestation of Tuomela’s talents with expertly crafted lyrics and orchestral arrangements. More English singles will be released throughout the year, culminating in a full alt-pop album release in early 2025.
“One Love” will be available on all streaming platforms on March 15th, and Hanna-Maaria’s acoustic performance of the single will air on “Die Grosse Chance” on ORF1 on the same date.
